A Level 2 NVQ gives you the chance to demonstrate your existing skill set and occupational industry knowledge and further your construction career. We offer practical advice, the support and resources you need to successfully complete your NVQ. There are over 20 courses available which can lead to you applying for a skilled CSCS card in your relevant industry.
NVQs are aimed at those looking to gain professional recognition for their occupational skills. There are no formal entry requirements, however, you must be working in you relevant industry. All NQVs include a focus on health and safety within the workplace.
These occupational qualifications allow you to demonstrate your abilities and knowledge to future employers and can make it easier for you to make progress in your chosen industry by applying for the blue Skilled Labourer CSCS card.

LEVEL 2 – ARCHITECTURAL METALWORK
This popular NVQ Level 2 qualification has the focus on the installation of architectural metalwork in addition to the mandatory units relating to H&S, conforming to productive working practices and moving, handling and storing resources. As all NVQs, this Level 2 is ideal for those seeking professional recognition of their occupational skills. Completion of this course allows you to apply for a blue Skilled Labourers CSCS card.
LEVEL 2 – ACOUSTIC INSTALLER
This Level 2 NVQ in acoustic instalment focuses on installing acoustic flooring, conforming to productive working practices, H&S and management of resources. Like all the Level 2 courses we offer, this course can boost earning potential and help you demonstrate your commitment to personal and professional development.
LEVEL 2 – BRICKLAYING
The Level 2 Trowel or Bricklaying NVQ covers erecting masonry structures and setting out to form masonry structures. Delegates can choose one of six additional units, which include erecting masonry cladding and compacting concrete in addition to the mandatory units relating to H&S, conforming to productive working practices and moving, handling and storing resources, leading to the blue Skilled Labourers CSCS card.
LEVEL 2 – CLADDING
This Level 2 Cladding NVQ covers preparing resources for installation, installing sheeting and cladding on roofs and walls, and installing sheeting and cladding rainwater goods. Optional units to choose from include information on repairing sheeting and cladding, preparing and operating manipulating machines to lift and transfer, and slinging and hand signalling the movement of suspended loads which are additional to the mandatory H&S, conforming to productive working practices and moving, handling and storing resources units.
LEVEL 2 – CONCRETE FINISHING
This Level 2 in Specialist Concrete is centred on the various applications of concrete as well as the mandatory moving, handling and storing resources, H&S and best working practices. Also important is the content on installing, maintaining and removing work area protection and safety equipment included. There are several different pathways for this NVQ for you to choose from so that it is most relevant to your role and at the end you’ll gain access to a Blue Skilled Labourers CSCS card.
LEVEL 2 – CRANES AND SPECIALIST LIFTING
There are many different pathways within in this plant qualification, contact us to discuss which is the right one for you, such as crawler or compact cranes. Mandatory units of this Level 2 NVQ course include moving, handling and storing resources, health and safety in the workplace and the completion of one additional unit relevant to your occupation which can lead to the blue Skilled Labourers CPCS card.
LEVEL 2 – DEMOLITION
In the Level 2 Demolition NVQ, units include dismantling and demolishing concrete structures, cladding, timber structures and metal structures. Candidates will demonstrate their understanding of moving, handling and storing resources, H&S and removing and segregating components and materials in demolition.
LEVEL 2 – DRAINAGE
The Level 2 drainage NVQ has units on necessary requirements of groundwork and drainage. It is designed to provide essential skills for effective drainage implementation as well as units about health and safety within the workplace to keep yourself and others safe whilst you work.
LEVEL 2 – DRYLINING
The Level 2 in Drylining has units covering the finishing of dry lining walls and ceilings and installing plasterboard linings as well as then mandatory units covering H&S, best practice and handling resources. You can also apply for a blue Skilled Labourers CSCS card after completing this course.
LEVEL 2 – EXCAVATING
The Level 2 NVQ in Excavating has one optional unit to complete from a choice of six in addition to the mandatory units conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace and conforming to productive working practices. The course can increase your earning potential and help you demonstrate your commitment to personal and professional development.
LEVEL 2 – FORMWORK
The Level 2 in Formwork is targeted at carpenters or erectors/strikers. It features units on erecting and striking timber and proprietary framework depending on which pathway you take it will also cover fabricating and maintaining timber and proprietary systems alongside the mandatory units covering health and safety.
LEVEL 2 – FITTED INTERIORS
The Level 2 NVQ in Fitted Interiors course covers several units for you to choose the ones relevant to your role including fitted furniture or kitchen fitting as well as the mandatory units regarding moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace and health and safety.
LEVEL 2 – GROUNDWORKS
The Level 2 Groundworks NVQ includes units overing the preparation and carrying out of groundworks operations, health and safety in construction environments and operating powered tools and equipment. You can select the units relevant to your role, such as utility location and avoidance, installing drainage and shallow pipelines, and laying kerbs and channels. There are also units relating to laying and finishing concrete, laying modular paving, providing shoring support and working in confined spaces.
LEVEL 2 – INSTALLING FIRE RESISTANT TIMBER DOOR SETS
This Level 2 NVQ in Installing Fire Resistant Timber Door Sets includes units on installing fire-resistant timber door sets safely as well as the mandatory general workplace health and safety and productive working practices. Completion of the course enables you to showcase your knowledge and competence to an industry standard.
LEVEL 2 – MAINTENANCE, REPAIR AND REFURBISHMENT MULTI-TRADE
Included in the mandatory units of this popular Level 2 NVQ in refurbishment is delivering good customer service. There are two additional units to choose from, including carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating, tiling, plastering, roofing and trowel occupations for a multi-trade role.
LEVEL 2 – MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID AWARENESS
This L2 NVQ in MHFA teaches delegates how to gain a better understanding of mental health and well-being issues. They learn the skills to identify mental health conditions and associated risks and understand the role of a mental health first aider. The course also includes guidance on identifying appropriate interventions and treatments for mental health conditions.
LEVEL 2 – MULTI-TRADE – VARIOUS TRADES
There a several different pathways for this Level 2 NVQ, including carpentry, painting and decorating, tiling, bricklaying, roofing and plastering. You can choose the units that match your multi discipline job in addition to the mandatory units covering moving and lifting and H&S.
LEVEL 2 – PLANT OPERATIONS – VARIOUS TRADES
This popular Plant Operations Level 2 NVQ covers a variety of plant skills, you can choose the relevant units to match your role from cranes and lifting, excavating, plant machinery and other pathways. The mandatory units including H&S and the safe and effective usage of equipment. The course can enhance your earning potential and give you access to the blue CPCS card.
LEVEL 2 – PLANT AND MACHINERY MAINTENANCE
The plant and machinery maintenance Level 2 NVQ offers units cover operating plant and machinery when in use as well as non-operational activities. It also includes units on servicing plant and machinery plus removing, replacing, dismantling and assembling plant or machinery components. After completing this NVQ it can lead to an increase in your earning potential and give you access to the blue CPCS card.
LEVEL 2 – PLASTERING
This Level 2 NVQ focuses on plastering either solid or fibrous in addition to the mandatory units including handling and storing materials and health and safety in the workplace and can lead to the blue Skilled Labourers CSCS card.
LEVEL 2 – SLINGER/SIGNALLER
For this Level 2, candidates demonstrate how to attach and prepare suspended loads for movement using lifting accessories and guiding, positioning and placing suspended loads. Mandatory units cover working practices and complying with general health and safety. Successful completion leads to the blue CPCS card.
LEVEL 2 – SPECIALIST INSTALLATIONS
This NVQ Level 2 NVQ covers various pathways in installation, including architectural metalwork, enclosures, industrial storage systems and acoustic installations. The mandatory units relate to moving, handling and storing resources and health and safety.
LEVEL 2 – STEEL ERECTING
The popular Level 2 NVQ in steel erecting units cover working safely with steel and minimising risk, moving structural steel sections plus installing structural steelwork components, working safely at height and assembling bolted joints in structural steelwork, leading to a CSCS blue card.
LEVEL 2 – STEEL FIXING
This Level 2 NVQ in steel fixing will cover fixing steel in situ in the workplace, prefabricating reinforcement steel sections or cutting and bending reinforcement steel to shape as well as the mandatory units moving, handling and storing resources and H&S in the workplace.
LEVEL 2 – TILING
The Level 2 NVQ in Tiling covers preparing and tiling wall and floor surfaces as well as the mandatory units covering moving, handling and storing resources and health and safety. There is one optional unit to complete from a choice of two.
