Who is Eligible for CITB Funding?
The following can make a CITB grant claim:
- Employers who are registered with CITB and are fully up to date with their levy returns.
- Small employers who are not required to pay the levy but are registered with CITB.
CITB grants and funding for individuals are not granted, only for employers. So, you will need to apply on behalf of your workforce.
Eligible Qualifications
- Short-period qualifications (level 2 qualifications or above which take less than 1 year to complete)
- Long-period qualifications (higher-level qualifications which take more than 1 year to complete)
- NVQs & plant related vocational qualifications
- Short courses

CITB Levy Grants for NVQs
If you are a CITB levy payer and you are up to date with all of your payments, you can claim up to £1,500 per NVQ for Level 6 Site Management or Contracting Operations and Level 7 Senior Site Management NVQs. This is an increase on the old CITB grant amount of £600. There is also an increase to the Level 3 Occupational work Supervision and Level 4 Site Supervision NVQs with the new grant amounts coming in at £1,200. If you choose us, your employees can undertake an NVQ that is fully funded.
CITB Funding for Short Courses
You’ll be pleased to know that CITB have doubled their grant rates for short courses too. You can now receive either £60, £140 or £240 for short courses through the CITB. The funding for short courses is separated into 3 tiers, which are as follows:
- Tier 1: (£60 grant)
- Tier 2: (£140 grant)/Tier 2 Refresher (£70 grant)
- Tier 3: (£240 grant)/Tier 3 Refresher (£120 grant)

CITB Skills & Training Fund – Small and Micro-sized Businesses
The CITB Skills and Training Fund offers the opportunity to access funding of up to £10,000, no matter how small the business to incentivise claims from the CITB levy.
You are eligible if you:
- Have up to 99 directly-employed staff (in addition to the MD or business owner)
- Are a CITB-registered employer and are up to date with your CITB levy payments
- Have had any previous claims paid signed off as completed from the CITB Levy
Applications for CITB grants and funding are related to how many direct employees are employed:
- Employers who only employ CIS workers (non-PAYE):
can receive a maximum of £2,500 - Employers of between 1 and 49 PAYE, directly employed staff:
can get up to £5,000 - Employers of between 50 and 74 PAYE, directly employed staff:
can get up to £7,500 - Employers of between 75 and 99 PAYE, directly employed staff:
can get up to £10,000
